Make-up Trends S/S 2016

I know we are only in February but I need to prepare you for spring/summer make-up trends that are just around the corner.
It will be spring in no time but maybe not English weather wise.

Whilst being a make-up artist one of the most important things are to keep up to date with all the make-up trends from season to season.
I have done some hard research as usual for the run up to Spring/Summer and I want to do a blog post to also keep you all up to date. I want you to take on each day bang on trend with your makeup looking hot!

I have 8 new looks that can be an excuse to go make-up shopping or pull out some old make-up products that you've missed using.
Trends are all about experimenting with new looks, so if you find some of the trends hard to pull off, mix it up a bit and try different applications or positions to apply to.

Apple Lips
Red is backkkk... Big juicy RED apple lips!
We all have a special red lipstick that we love the flaunt on a special night out, but this season you can flaunt it everyday if you like.
Make sure you find the correct shade for your skin tone as this makes a huge difference when wanting to pull of a red lip. If the statement red scares you a little go for Raspberry, you'll still be killing the trend.
I would recommend Loreal Colour Riche Collection lipsticks (read my blog post HERE
These come in 4-5 shades named by each celebrity. They are made to match whatever skin tone you may have, so time to get matched up. (As seen at DKNY below)

Blue
First thing I want to say... DONT PAIR BLUE AND PINK TOGETHER. We don't want to go back to the 80's.
The trend is based on Blue on the eyes. This can be a shade that I think is hardest to pull off, but its all about blending with the right shades and placing it in the right place.
Were seeing mainly Electric blues but if you want to go softer make it tropical, and go turquoise blue <3
If you want to start off light a few ideas could be
- go for blue liner
- Smoke blue under the lower lashes
- Sneak your blue shades in the inner corner of the eyes
- Blue Mascara, Looks a dream (Kills 2 trends in 1)
(As seen at Diane Von Furstenburg below)

Golden Glow
My Favourite summer trend. The time of year when the cream bronzers can come back out.
Change the powders to creams - I don't want to see no matte skin, give yourself that healthy summer glow.
This trend has also brought in 'Gymstgramming' were all wanting the post-gym glow from that natural dewy finish, this doesn't mean don't wash. Haha, we mean stock up on that strobe cream!
One of the latest tips is to mix your bronzer and highlight together. Its all about contouring with bronzer now, No more brown lines, this tip gives a more natural look and bringing that glow to your cheekbones whilst looking like the sun grabbed you in the perfect places.

Lashout
We say 'Brows frame our face' but without our lashes I would for sure feel bare.
This season we focus on the middle area of our eyelashes to make the centre extra long and volumized which makes the eyes pop.
We've faded from the 'Essex false lashes' and became non-existent on the catwalk the past year but we miss the fluttery lashes thats why their back. (As seen at Marni - below)

Vampire
Yes this is Spring/Summer trends but we've kept the dark mysterious trend and transformed it to more ombre to brighten the season up. All about vampire lips with the dark plum and purple shades (As seen at Givenchy - Below)

Sunset
The word that describes it all... nudes, peach warm pinks and oranges and all things pastel shades. This trend can be one that people are scared to try as this can give the 'sore' look to the eye area.
Pat McGrath showed her top tip - Use red lip liner on the lash line and smudge, pull this off with warm brown socket blended through.
I also did a Make-up Monday look using these shades and also a bit of glitter, check it out on Instagram - @makeupbysophiedowning (As seen at Erdem below)

Black Liner
If you don't already recieve my monthly newsletters, Subscribe HERE
I incorporated this trend into Februarys make-up competition to see your black liner 'Cat flicks'.
I can't see this trend ever fading, most peoples day to day look includes eyeliner, so you can easily stay on trend this month :)
I love the way Muglar (below) showed a different way of placing black liner on the catwalk this season. Experiment!

Glitter
Everyone knows I have a huge love for glitter, from shimmers to pigments this look makes any eye makeup stand out.
Want to go that extra step and remake 'Prada' on the catwalk? They had Gold Lips
Or maybe its easiest to get inspired by 'Delposo' as they pressed Blue glitter onto the eyelids! (2 trends in 1)
Don't be afraid to use glitter, everyone can pull it off no matter what age, you just have to find the correct products. Have a read of my previous blog post HERE on 'Bobbi Brown Sparkle eyeshadow' you can go wrong.
Kate Spade (below) showed a minimal elegant way of using glitter <3

Now theres no reason for any of you to not use any of these trends throughout Spring/Summer
The sun will make you happy and adventurous to maybe try something new.
